At the U.N. General Assembly, Benjamin Netanyahu invoked scripture and selective history to defend the state of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its ethnic cleansing of our people throughout the occupied territories.
Dimitri Diliani, spokesperson for Fateh’s Reformist Democratic Faction, said: “Benjamin Netanyahu speaks of lies while facing an International Criminal Court arrest warrant over war crimes and crimes against humanity. A U.N. Commission of Inquiry concluded in 2025 that the state of Israel committed genocide in Gaza. By Sept. 23, the Health Ministry had reported 73,922 Palestinians killed by the Israeli genocidal army since October 2023. Netanyahu called the genocide charge ‘the greatest lie of the century.’ That line is a calculated evasion: it answers no evidence, names no Palestinian dead and offers no accounting for the genocidal devastation his government and army have inflicted.”
On Netanyahu’s historical claims, Diliani added: “Ancient Jewish history and biblical narratives are part of a religious tradition; they do not establish modern title to Palestinian land. Netanyahu’s own phrase, a Jewish state ‘at any boundaries,’ lays bare the expansionist premise of his argument. His account of 1967 leaves out the war criminal military occupation that followed and our rights denied under it.”
Addressing the speech’s language, Diliani said: “Netanyahu called delegates ‘moral cowards,’ protesters ‘phony’ and his adversaries ‘barbarians.’ He invoked the Holocaust while presenting the genocidal state of Israel as civilization’s besieged defender. That rhetoric dehumanizes critics and diverts attention from the genocidal Israeli army’s war crimes.”
Our right to live freely on our land and determine our future cannot be erased by twisted explanations of selective biblical scriptures or genocidal military force. The Israeli perpetrators must face accountability for genocide and ethnic cleansing.
